Standard

The standard that binds us is a document, not a boast.

“We’re the best” is a boast and it cannot be checked. So we write down the standard of our own work instead, then measure this site against it and publish the numbers. None of them are typed by hand; they all come from a script in the repository.

True of every build

Accessibility: WCAG 2.2 AA

Full keyboard use, visible focus rings, 44-pixel touch targets, readable contrast, and respect for a reduced-motion preference. Not an extra — a delivery condition.

Performance and page-weight budget

Every page is built against a published budget. If the budget is exceeded, either the page gets smaller or the reason gets written down.

Ownership and no lock-in

Code, content, domains, and accounts are opened in your name and stay yours. There is no key held at Asopel.

Written handover

Every engagement ends in a written handover: how the system works, where it stops, what it depends on, and what comes next.

What was not done is named

Whatever we left out of scope is written down. Passing over a gap quietly turns it into a surprise later.

Tested code, gated release

Code arrives with automated tests; a release is gated on a verification list and does not open until the list is complete.

What we do not commit to

Every item above is about our own work. We promise nothing about the outcome in your business — because guaranteeing another company’s result is an unenforceable promise, and making it would cast doubt on every other statement here.

  • Bookings, orders, or revenue growth
  • Search engine ranking
  • Growth or a market outcome
  • Unmeasurable phrases like “zero defect” or “world-class”

This site, measured

The numbers below were measured on this site’s home page. They sit next to the published budget; if a number went over the budget, it would show that way here.

500 kB · Within budget

Total transferred on a first visit with a cold cache. About a third of it is three type faces across both Latin subsets: Turkish needs latin-ext, and a missing subset changes letters mid-word.

Requests

19requests

Budget
25 requests · Within budget

How many requests a browser makes to paint the page. Fewer requests means it opens quickly on a slow connection.

Third-party requests

0 requests · Within budget

How many requests go to another company. Zero means your visitor is introduced to nobody when they open this site.

Calculated from transferred bytes. No green-hosting discount is applied: applying one would require a claim this script cannot verify.

How it is measured

The measurement runs as a script over the built output and can be repeated whenever you like. We publish its limits too; a number without its method is just another claim.

  • The home page document, plus the styles, scripts, and fonts needed to paint it.
  • Text files are measured Brotli-compressed, as the edge serves them; already-compressed files are measured raw.
  • A first visit with a cold cache is assumed. This is the worst case, not the average.
  • Lazily-loaded chunks and requests triggered by interaction are not counted; those belong to a real browser measurement.
  • The carbon figure is calculated without a green-hosting discount, so it reads higher than it likely is.
  • The number describes the build it was measured from. Publishing it changes the next build by a few bytes, so the figure belongs to the build it was taken from.

Let’s talk about work held to this standard.
